Windows 8 Firewall - outbound connections

Hey guys. I am configuring my new Windows 8 setup and having some issues with the Windows Firewall.

For greater security, I have set the "Outbound connections" to block and have specific (allow) exceptions in the "Outbound rules". Again, this is regarding "outbound" connections - and not inbound connections (which is also blocked).

I added allow exceptions to IE and Chrome, and they work fine. However, I am having trouble getting Windows Defender and Windows update programs from connecting to the internet to get updates. Has anyone figured this out?

Solved. Just need to add the Windows Update "service" to the list of outbound rules.
