Microsoft has released the long awaited release candidate build of their upcoming Windows 7 operating system according to a post on Windows 7 News. The post refers to a page on the Microsoft Partner Program website containing a download link for the Windows 7 release candidate that is currently only available to selected partners. It is however very likely that it will be activated for all partners soon.

I can tell you first hand that the download links do not lead to Win7RC. With dates of 1/2009 for the downloads listed, it is not the RC build.

In that case I removed the links except for the original.

I checked both TechNET and MSDN. There is no builds for RC on there as of right now. Even going thru the partners page that was linked. I even went in through my account and nothing.

What is the build number on the RC build?

We dont know. It hasnt been released.
