So I reinstalled my OS due to black screen after windows splash screen but after few windows updates the problem re-occurred so just wondering if anyone has encountered this problem. If so, what's the cause of it and how to rectify this as its really annoying.

I don't have any idea what's causing it really.

Can you boot into Safe Mode or Safe Mode with Networking?

If so, then it's a program, driver, or service that's causing it to stall.

Yeah i can but im not sure what's causing it though. I really haven't installed anything apart from steam, vpn, skype and windows updates. It was after the updates then black screen occurred.

Well, go to Start -> Control Panel -> Windows Updates -> Installed Updates and uninstall them one at a time until the black screen is fixed.

Or you can do a System Restore to before any of the updates were installed, and then install one at a time to find out which one causes the black screen.

You can also try disabling all startup items/services that aren't necessary.

Start -> type 'msconfig' -> go to Services tab and check "Hide all Microsoft services" and go through the list and disable services that aren't necessary.

Same with the Startup tab on msconfig.
