I heard that windows 2000 and windows XP are almost the same but 2000 is actually better. Am I just reading old reports or is this true? Is there any reason to get XP over 2000?

I think there are more preinstalled drivers on windows xp. Not sure though.

XP and 2k are similar. XP is mostly a media based upgrade. It also greatly dumbs down Win2k for the computer illiterate. XP does give you more drivers on install, and more user friendly plug and play. One of the main differences is the "Luna" theme, which is what some people call the "Candyland" theme. This can be disabled though.

Pretty much all of the changes in XP are aimed at home users who are computer illiterate, so thats why businesses who are already on Win2k don't see the need in upgrading to XP. Now that MS has ended support, they are going to have to.

I remember looking at the M$ website and they had an article posted saying that XP Home performed 22% better than Win2k. If I find it again I will post the link.

At this point definately go with XP for a couple reasons (i'm summarizing)

1. Win2k is not supported anymore
2. Close to the same OS but XP is more user friendly
3. WinXP can be made to look like 2k
4. They are the same price 144 & 146

O and get WinXP PRO not HOME
