Default Window ME error on boot

Hey all, got an issue with a Windows (The Cadillac of OS's) ME. You turn on the PC, see the Windows ME start up page, then you get the blue screen of death saying, "While initializing device CONFIGMG. Windows protection error. You need to restart you computer. System Halted."

Other then reinstalling the OS, is there a way to repair this issue?
You can get into safe mode, but without networking and access to the cd rom, I'm kinda hooped gettting spy removal tools in it.

Please don't respond if it's not a worthwhile answer

Well, all you can do is re-install the OS, but since its ME, its bound to happen again, Your best bet would be to get a copy of XP and do a clean install.

I certainly hope you are being sarcastic.

And, I do agree with everyone else who has replied to this post---ditch ME. Get 2000 or, better yet, XP.

When did this message strt comming up, because in ME there is a command you can run at the command line with the use of a startup disck called SCANREG /RESTORE this will allow you to restore you registry to a previous date. It comes in handy and works most of the time

Call if you need assistance!!
