Default WIN98 Problems!

I am using Windows 98 on my computer at my vacation home. Everytime I try to run SuperPI or many other programs I get a message saying, "This program has performed an illegal operation and must be shut down." Anyone know how to prevent this? Any help would be greatly appriciated.

When I use these programs at home on my XP machine I do not get these messages.

It's probably incompatibility issues, you could format your hard drive, reinstall windows and start over.

I would format and reinstall windows, but I am currently at my vacation home and do not have a windows setup cd. I will bring this pc home and do it, but I will be here for a few more days.
