hey,

when i go to the welcome screen and the username box comes up...it has a old username stored it it already...i was wondering how i can change it to the new username to automaticly be in there ??

google tweakui , DL the one for your OS
There is an option for auto login
there also is a registry hack that is better I will see if I can find that

here is the key in the registry

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\ CurrentVersion\Winlogon

I tink you have to ad these to winlogon if they are not there already

AutoAdminLogon "1"
DefaultUserName "jbloggs"
DefaultPassword "blog123"
DefaultDomainName "BLOGLAND"

caution anyone can see your password it is in plain text
also do not enable the option to show last user logged on

do not use this if you are at work on a domain...or you will have a very upset admin guy/ girl in your office

why not use it if im in a domain ??

im in a workgroup is that matters ??

-=edit=-
I just tried it and it wont save it....it will keep changing it back in the registry....i would change it to say...joe bloggs...and then it would change it back to j-bm...thats the old username...

is there a way u can save the registry before exit ?

You are an administrator to the local machine? Reason why you shouldnt do this on a Domain is because the admin would not know what the hell is going on and why it is not prompting for logon info :)

Usually changes dont save is you are not an admin to the local machine.

1. BECAUSE IT HAS YOUR PASSWORD IN PLAIN TEXT IN THE REGISTRY

2. SINCE IT IS AUTO LOGIN^^^^^^^ANYBODY CAN SIT DOWN, TURN ON YOUR PC AND HAVE ACCESS TO THE DOMAIN...NOT A GOOD IDEA

THE JOE BLOGG IS AN example, you put in your own name , you have to have an account already set up that you log on with, it should work for p 2 p also. DL tweakui makes it easier
