win 7 vs 8.1

I want to master a windows operating system. Should I go for 7 and wait until the next release. Or should I go 8.1 rt?

Why RT? RT is the ARM-based edition of Windows, which while being very similar to Win8.1, will still be different in the fact that you can only install apps onto it, and not full desktop programs and require different troubleshooting procedures.

Ideally, you should know both fairly well so you know how to troubleshoot each.

IMO, general Windows knowledge is applicable across all Windows OSes. If you master one Windows OS then you are well on your way to mastering them all.

Because they didn't like Win 8, is my guess...
I didn't care for 8 that much, but 8.1 is SOOOO much better.
