Why is my laptop runnin tad SLOW ?!

Hey guys, I am running Win XP Pro, and as of note the only application thats running besides Firefox is Msn Messenger. The system keeps halting every now and then.

The system Ram is 1gb and the processor is 1.6 Ghz.

I brought up the task manager and this is what I see:

Processes: 31
CPU Usage: 25% ? !
Commit Charge: 289M / 2389M

Can someone tell me whats going on ? Its been like this for the last 2 days in a row now. Any help would be appreciated. :happy:

sounds like you might have an infection. At idle cpu should be below 10%

to post a hijackthis log for analysis.

New install? Has it always been slow?

Uninstall anything recently? update anything recently?
