Why does google toolbar with IE6 suck oh so badly?

I just had to go through 38 computers to remove google toolbar among the 60 computers I have in our two elementary labs. They're all running Windows 2k Pro so they're using IE6. Google toolbar was on them and IE would freeze on majority of the machines. It literally took 12-15 minutes for IE to respond.

I remove google toolbar. BAM. Perfection.

Has anybody else had trouble? I'm not talking about the Google search function in the upper right of IE7... I'm speaking specifically about the toolbar add-on to IE6.

I've seen problems with it in IE7 as well. Would just disable it (although these people had like 2 or 3 different toolbars, so it coulda been just conflicts), and IE would work fine.
