Default where can one buy a os cheaply?

Whats a good place to get my os? and what version is the best for gaming machines?

Newegg has xp pro at 150ish us, that seems alittle expensive. but i could be wrong.

If you're a student/teacher and can provide college id you can buy the Student and Teacher edition of XP Pro from Newegg for like $85, that's what I did. Newegg seems to be the cheapest way to buy an os and I would recommend either Xp Home or Pro.
I wouldn't really trust an ebay seller for a legit copy or a coa.

I heard from a friend who just buys license keys alone which is much cheaper than buying the CD and everything.
