Default Where is autocomplete info?

Where does Windows XP store the autocomplete info that pops up in the IE address bar as you start typing? Through searching, I've found how to delete this info, but I want to find out how and when certain "objectionable" addresses made their way into my computer. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the reply. That's where I can clear the history or set preferences, but where can I actually look at the info that autocomplete is accessing to fill in what you type?

The index.dat files are always LOCKED during a Windows session and can not be deleted manually. Best to buy a program to to this for you. Simply clearing the history etc. does not remove the data from this file.

This program will work for $30. http://www.privacyeraser.com/
