Default What's a good processor for gaming?

I've got a good 256mb video card and a nice chunk of ram, now I just need a good processor. What do you think is a nice one? Also, what are some stats that make a processor good?

What type of ram did you get, first off? If its dual channel DDR ram at 400MHz (PC3200) then youre roaring for a Pentium 4. An Athlon 64 would be nice, but you could only get the bottom range one (as the top range one supports only registered RAM and unless you have that youre SOL)

Apple, Mac OS , and Power PC

Default Go amd

Best to go amd fx-51 for gaming. Pentium processors are great for processing music, video etc, but aren't the best for gaming.
