Yea I thought of Linux...but since i'm a hardcore Windows user...that's like entering a whole different ballpark...or world more like.

you can use both Windows and Linux on yer laptop..ask U-Toast...he has Linux SuSE 9.1

yea I could dual boot if I wanted to. I had this thought about getting another hard drive for my desktop and put another OS on that. I wanted to try it with Mac but Windows can't emualte Mac.

i dont have suse anymore, i got MUCH better, slackware 10. its amazing! just lil problems with base clipping in linux, but not in xp

I know you can do it the other way...I once worked with a Linux and it was Mandrake...that's my favorite of the Linux family

I like SuSE and Mandrake. But I havent't seen the newest versions yet, and my PC is too slow

For me personally I just liked the Mandrake because it was very smooth. That's the only one i've ever used so I don't have much to say about other Linux versions. So it sounds like I should maybe stick with Windows. Ol' Tried and True....almost true lol

what desktop environments are there in Mandrake? (only used it for one day myself, can't remember)

With SuSE Linux 7.0 Pro I used Gnome and Enlightenment a lot
