what happened to my options?

Suddenly I can no longer save or upload anything other than bitmap images. if I try to download or upload an animated .gif it only saves/uploads the first frame as a bitmap. and there isn't a drop down menu when saving anymore. This had happend to my other computer a long time ago, and I just gave up using it for that, but now I don't have a computer anymore that can do it. please help me get it working again.

Delete all your temp files, cookies etc. That fixed the problem whenever I had it.

thanks.. that did it, but now my status bar dissapears every time I click a link... how can I get it to stay there after I turn it back on?
