hi
I have win xp home on amd athlon processor w 74.5gb disk & 512 mb ram.Whenever i try to visit my music folder i get errror message popup `dr watson postmornem debugger encountered an error'.After that computer freezes. This happened especially after started downloading some movies from dc++.I fail to understand - please help

vir68 this is usually caused by a serious error. You can disable the debugger by editting your registry. Make a backup of the registry before doing this. A better solution is to backup your important data and reinstall windows.

Qoute from wawadave:
goto,start,run,type regedit
tha follow the route listed here
Hive: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Key: SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AeDebug
Name: Auto
Type: REG_DWORD
Value: 0 disable
Value: 1 enable

make a back up of the registry in edit than click export before makeing changes.

makeing changes to wrong things in regedit will cause computer to be unbootable. put back ups in easy to find folder from safe mode.

reinstall your system. messing around with your registry for a problem like this is pointless. Just disabling Dr. Watson isn't fixing anything. Dr. Watson errors are just information on your computer being flakey, it doesn't CAUSE errors. The root problem is something much deeper. I strongly suggest reinstalling your system after you get a good back-up of your vital stuff.
