western hard drive installation

i have an old hard drive and i am adding a new western digital...

so i am linking the new one to the old (cable) ...

question..how do you install a new hard drive..?

right now my computer dosent recognize it at all..i have win 2000

do i do this in initial setup ..before win 2000 starts..if so..how..????

it was the jumper stuff i didnt know about..made it to slave..but maxtor drive is really horrible..got to remove it...

any ideas how to create a system disk for booting the new hard drive or...how to make the comp boot from cd rom?

western dig has their own boot disk. go to their site

i fixed it..was the jumper stuff...just removed the old maxtor.and put in the new one as the primary.
