recently my computer on bootup has just sat at the welcome screen for about a minute. it used to only sit on that screen for like 5 seconds or so. i have widows xp. is there anyway to solve this? and also, ive been getting a lot of popups, but didnt used to. i run two different spyware sweepers regularly, but it doesnt seem to help at all. how can i get rid of those?

Clear you cookies and cache and run adaware on your system
And for you welcome screen do you have more than one account?

Sounds dumb but because of another post I read a few days ago, do you keep your spyware programs updated?

i clear cookies and cache regularly, as well as run adaware and spyware. what do you mean keep them updated?

Hey zoerb,

I don't know if the popups your talking about are the
Gray Windows Messenger popups or not. If they are you
can disable Windows Messenger since it's only used
on LAN's to send messages to other users. If they are
to turn them off Right click on My Computer, select Manage,
then select services, now find the Messenger service and
Right click go to properties and set it to Disabled.

Good Luck

no theyre not messanger popups, but thanks anyway. they usually come up in a string right after one another, then again a couple of minutes later.
