So I popped in a windows 98 boot disk in an attempt to formatt my drive C and start anew with XP. Now that I changed my BIOS around, performed fdisk to assign all my memory to drive C, and rebooted once again to further fornatt the partitions I had apparently just created, nothing's happening. I reboot the computer and it just goes to a black screen that reads, "Error loading operating system". Any help is appriciated.

try this, use you boot disk,delete your partition,boot to you xp and let it create and format your partition.

I can't even do that. I get the same message each time I try to boot up my computer.

go into bios and set bios defaults

set a:/ to primary boot device, and get a 98bootdisk at www.bootdisk.com
