Weird problem

So something really weird is happening to me and I have absolutely no idea what on earth is causing it.

When I turn my computer on, about 5-10 minutes in it will freeze, screen will go black, sometimes it recovers but most of the time I need to restart it myself or a blue screen will appear.

Once It restarts and gets back into windows it works perfectly fine. I don't understand why a crashed forced restart needs to happen for the computer to resume working as it should.

Any help would be very much appreciated. (I apologize if this has been posted in the wrong section as I don't know if it's a Hardware or Software problem).

Have you done anything to the computer lately? It might be a memory problem since it gives you a blue screen, but it could also be something with your hard disk.

What do you mean by done anything ? At most I install and uninstall games, that's about it really.

Does it crash while you're playing games or just when the computer is idle?

check control panel > administrative tools > event viewer for clues

It crashes whenever I start doing stuff, be it Skype or WoW or whatever it is really.
