Default Web server software

I have windows xp home sp1. and im looking for a simple and free software where i can run my computer as a server to host a phpbb forum, any suggestions?

Apache is awesome ... you'll just have to install php yourself ... which isn't hard given the documentation available.

Yes, Apache rocks.. very simple. You also need MySQL from www.mysql.com if u want to run phpBB or any other SQL forum. I would suggest SMF forums, its the best free forum I have seen (www.simplemachines.org)

ok i have downloaded the SMF forum and have an apache server installed, but, i dont know what folder to put it in, is it webroot? htdocs?

htdocs in your apache install folder
