will there be an alternative to downloading it, will it be available on cds for free because i can't download 1gb of stuff on my dialup w/o seriously ticking off my entire family

Well that is why the SP is being pushed back to March/April. The Pre-requisite hotfixes needed for the SP will be available this coming week. Then next month will be the 2nd batch of files needed. Then after you have all the files needed they will push out the SP. That is why it is put off. This way you don tahve to download 1GB of stuff. The actual SP is only 533MB in size. It is the pre-requisite files that cause it to go over 1GB.

Do you guys think that Vista is worth it right now? I have seen where Windows 7 is going to be released in 2009, so why get Vista when Windows 7 is coming in 1 year, or atleast thats my understanding.

Windows 7 will not hit in 2009. Search for that topic as it is here and i have explained it all in there.
