Hello!

Recently I was forced to replace the motherboard in my computer. Now the machine works great in terms of hardware, whereas before I couldn't even get an image on the screen. Now it when it begins loading into Vista, it reaches the point where the green Microsoft load bar appears at the bottom of the black screen. Then, when it looks like it's about to load logon, it reboots. Rinse and repeat.

Vista is still relatively new territory for me and this is a machine I built myself. Any thoughts and advice would be much appretiated.

You have to format and re-install Vista. Since you changed your hardware it wont boot. There is no repair option for Vista so you are stuck formatting and re-installing.

This is because the hardware profile tha tyou originally installed vista with is not hte same anymore now that you got a new motherboard and CPU.

I thought that might be the case, so I went ahead and bought a second hard drive so I can slave the old one. Thanks for your response!
