If I am unable to get into my vista machine because vista erased itself, and I never made a password reset disk (for security reasons)... is it still possible to install the exact same operating system... go and make the same user account... create a password reset disk... boot into my non working vista machine and use that password reset disk on it? It has become my last option... nothing else will let me into my own machine. ???

Could you define "erased itself" for us?
I'm not quite sure what you're getting at.

Hello Zero,

No it would not work. The user accoutns and created passwords would have a different digital signature than the previous account and would not work on the old build.

You will have to use a Linux LiveCD to get your old information off.

Cheers,
Mak

Yep... I'm out of options... I'll grab the files off and start fresh... thanks for all your help though. ^_^
