He must not know how to get the leatest version of Avast. I have run Avast on Vista since it was Beta. It was the first workign Antivirus for Vista.
Limewire is a tool that should not be used unless you have in depth knowledge. Many of the files on there are viruses. Which could explain why he was having issues installing Avast.
