Vista install partition problems

I recently got the final parts for my computer and I bought windows vista home premium 64 bit for my computer to run. When I try to install vista I get to the disk partition part and It says I cannot partition my hard drive. I have used the Hard drive in a windows XP computer before.

I dont know what you are asking. Are you trying to partition or is it already partitioned?

You cant create partitions unless it is in RAW format. If it is already formatted to NTFS you must delete the partition than create a new one in that space.

It says it contains a dynamic volume that it cannot do anything too.

Change a dynamic disk back to a basic disk: Storage Services; Local File Systems
