Vista Install Problem

I tried installing vista the other day and the instal went normal. I did the "upgrade from xp" It copied the files and all that just fine. But once it went to restart it wouldn't come back up. I can get in the bios and I get the option to boot from CD but after that nothing.

So even if I try to boot from CD nothing happens. So I reformatted and tossed xp back on. That worked fine. So this time rather then "upgrading" I tried doing a clean install and same thing.

Any clues as to whats happening?

you cant get the CD to boot, is that the issue ??
But it sounds the XP cd boots fine.

That to me suggests a bad cd. Just 1 question.. are you trying to use a copy. If so its probably a bad copy... though i dont suggest you try another copy.

Are you sure you gave it enough time to finish the install. I know that after the restart it does take a few minutes to get things rolling again. Seeing as you have 512MB RAM which is the minimuim i would say it would take upwards of maybe 5 minutes or so to get things rolling again.

My suggestion is to leave it for a few minutes to see if anything happens.
