Yes, it's like $20 less then premium.

I know it's already been answered, I was just trying to inform him that I didn't need that info lol. Still kind of curious though if you could just get the extra stuff without having to buy the actual thing. It list on the windows website to upgrade, but it cost money.

I think i'll just go without the hassle and keep my mind set on the home premium

No, you can't buy Home Basic and then download free updates to get the same functionality as Home Premium. Who would pay for it if it were free?

No you can not get Basic and then get the stuff for Home Premium and expect it to be used. Vista Basic is just that. BASIC.

You get no bells no whistles and no extras at all. No Aero. The networking is comparable to XP Home but more secure.
