Default Vista For Gaming

So next year in the first couple months i plan on spending alot of money on a gaming PC. I've pretty much got the equpiment hardware side of things figured out, just the OS i'm wondering about. I'm going to have 2GB of DDR2 TWINX + Dominator so i should be able to handle a bit of stuff running in the background with whatever Core 2 duo is out then. Graphics i'll prob have a DX10 card.

I'm wondering if i should stay with XP and just use the same equipment or use vista.

Core 2 Duo E6700
ASUS 680i Striker
4GB G.Skill DDRII-800
2X 750GB Seagate Barracuda
Thermaltake Toughpower 700W
21\" LCD Samsung Syncmaster
Antec Nine-Hundred
