Default Re: Vista Freezing Up / BSOD's

The first dump was from teh audiodg.exe file again. So it seems your sound drivers are still corrupt. The second one was from csrss.exe which is a system file. Could be a once thing could happen again.

Default Re: Vista Freezing Up / BSOD's

That one was caused by this dxgkrnl.sys. Which is the DX Graphics Kernel. So yet again it is video related. It seems like the video drivers are not good for you. Need to find a older version.

This one is caused by VSSVC.exe. Info on it here:

vssvc.exe - vssvc - Process Information

You know you can diagnose these yourself. Just look down the dump report till you see what process causes this error. Then look up what that process is.

Actually, I already did Turns out WoW was throwing the bluescreens. Its even worse if I have two games open at once (the reason behind me buying 4gb of RAM). Ever since the new patch, the game causes the screen to go black for a few seconds, then a message saying nvlddmkm was successfully recovered. If you google "WoW nvlddmkm" there are tons of issues. I tried one of the fixes, turning Aero off, and thats solved it.

So I just cant play the game with Aero on. Go figure.

EDIT Oh, and I tried installing SP1 again. Didnt get the bluescreen on restart this time, but it still went to stage 3, 100%, then said it failed, and was reverting changes. Error code 800706B5. And yes, the firewall was turned back on.

Found this as a "fix" for the problem (pretty basic if you ask me - one of those 'why didnt I think of that already' moments) so Ill try this and turn Aero back on:

Quote:
1) Uninstall Nvidia drivers (preferably with the Nvidia uninstaller), reboot in safe mode.
2) Run Driver cleaner and XDC (as Administrator). These are great for deleting registry entries, but still leave a lot of driver files behind.
3) run an advanced search for nv*.* in c:\Windows. Exclude the C:\Windows\System32\Driverstore\FileRepository in your search (you can't delete these, but it doesn't matter). Make sure you've checked the tick box to see hidden files. Sort the results by date decending.
4)You can now see all the files left behind by old nvidia drivers. Generally, files from the same driver set were created on the same date, so they're easy enough to spot. If in doubt, holding the cursor over a file tells you exactly what it is - if it's an Nvidia driver/control panel file, ditch it. The offending Nvlddmkm.sys will likely be one of them. Warning - don't delete nforce chipset drivers or anything that might not be an Nvidia file!
5) Reinstall your nvidia driver, reboot as normal.

Honestly Aero should turn OFF when you start the game. Why have aero on when youa re in game? Also why are you trying to run 2 games at once? that doesnt make any sense.

If you would have mentioned that you were trying to play WoW and had Aero on this would ahve been a much shorter thread. I could have told you that the nVidia drivers and WoW showed issues.
