Vista Basic Hangs on Black Screen with Cursor?

Hey, I have a PC that just Sits on a Blank Screen with the Cursor it doesnt Even get to the Welcome Screen? Any ideas?

Does it boot in safe mode? (press F8 during startup)

Can you hit Ctrl+Alt+Del to get the Task Manager? If so can you bring up Explorer.exe?

Nope task manager doesnt come up

Even when i boot in safe mode it does the same?

Then you will have to use the Vista Media and a Restore Point. Either some software you installed or an update that was done recently caused this.

i've just Restored to an earlier time twice now and still no luck

Then what ever did this, also corrupted your Restore Points. Not a good sign.

Just curious, has there been a Windows Update before you restarted? Strange and weird, but I've noticed my system hangs on such a screen only when there has been a Windows Update installed.

Edit: Normally I just leave it and it comes to the desktop, never really timed it though.
