Yes, you do need a CD key.

And Vista only works for 14 days for the trial version, i know it's pretty bad, because XP is 30-day trial.

You have to email Microsoft for a key, and wait a few weeks

Well, you couldn't always hit the torrent sites and get a key. There's also a batch file a guy uploaded that disables the 15 day trial period. Unless you reboot the computer, then it's reset at 15 days again. Just run the batch file again before the 15 days are up and it will reset it.

Yes, but talking about torrents (in that way) is illegal on here.

I dunno, I don't see it as a big deal with a Beta. Besides, the key you get from M$ is free anyway, isn't it?

Torvalds was contemptuous of Microsoft's claims and has asked Redmond to name the patent infringements so that their veracity can be challenged and workarounds found.
"Naming them would either make it clear that Linux is not infringing at all (which is quite possible, especially if the patents are bad), or would make it possible to avoid infringing by coding around whatever silly thing they claim,"

"So the whole 'We have a list and we're not telling you' should tell you something. Don't you think that if Microsoft actually had some really foolproof patent, they'd just tell us and go, 'nyaah, nyaah, nyaah!'?"
