Hi I recently found a trojan called Proxy-Hino.dldr from VirusScan's bootup scan, so i tried to delete the file, but would not, so i tried to add exe to the end, but that didn't work (I got some file system error). Now i can't find the file. It was named x.exe and it was in the C:\ directory. Now the bootscan doesn't alert when I start up. My question is, do virus definitions detect viruses bases on the filename only? Or do they look at the actual code of the file? Should I not worry? Is the file probably deleted? I disabled windows scripting host before i got the virus, could that have stopped it from running? I'm soory i'm pretty newbish with this.

Check for filenames SVCHOSTC.EXE and SVCHOSTS.EXE. The trojan isnt "harmful" its merely a way for hackers to connect to you to mask themselves.
