Videos and its icons

This may seem strange, but here is my question: I know how to and have made it show when opening a video file its uses vlc video player. But the icon you see in windows explorer is still the windows video icon. I dont care for the windows icon at all, and would prefer it to be the vlc or nero icon. How do I force it to be this way?

my computer,tools, folder options, file types. Look for your video extension. delete all references to it.

click new, add that file extension. associate it the vlc.exe icon (in program files). done
