Default Video Editing Software

I had some video editing software but I lost it all in a reformate about a year ago. Can someone tell me the name of one of the best video editing softwares out there but still for an affordable price? I don't plan on doing to much with it execpt for removing parts of .mpg files and merging short edited clips together once I cut out the parts I don't want.

Magix Movie Edit Pro
Because it's the software I always end up using when I actually need to finish something. Far easier to use than Premiere or Vegas if you've got hours of footage to edit.

Pinnacle is good for basics, premiere is for the very best editors, and oh yeah movie maker 2 is good for starters.
