VHD file question

Would VHD file run slower if they are housed on an external HD? If so, by a lot?

It depends on a lot of factors, but to be safe I'd say don't run it off an external drive.

Exactly what Soul said. I mean it can be affected by your running processes, the speed of your USB, the speed of the drive and so on.

I mean you are trying to weigh in on at least 5 or more factors that can affect how it will work. Trying to give a accurate estimate with trying to take into account all of those isnt going to happen.

Logic dictates a virtual system will definitely run slower on an external versus an internal drive. The basic bus speeds are different.

The VHD file he is talking about the storage name of a Virtual Machine. He was wondering if placing them on a external would be beneficial.
