Ventrilo problem

Ok 3 of my friends have new HP's that run media center edition of windows xp. All three of them have a problem in ventrilo where when they key their mic in whatever is playing in their output we hear. So if I talk and he keys in I hear myself really loud, etc. Any ideas? I've noticed it occurs on these 3 identical computers for some reason. It's really annoying!

well since thier the same computers with the same issue therefore, the solution should be the same so it will save a lot of time.
Have them go into the volume control in control panel and have them mess around with settings, like have them talk, then mute something, and see if that fixes it.
have them try the line-in setting.
