valid product key on trial version of Windows 7

i believe you can as long as its the same version like 32bit or 64bit
 
I don't think 32 vs 64 matters, more Home vs Pro is what does.

If microsoft server looks at key and verifys its been on different machines then the original system..
They will "DENY" you from using the key to use windows vista through windows 8.

I had the problem occur early last summer with someone else I know. :/

You can try to do it, but I check first and see where that key has been used. :|

If you're reinstalling on the same system and you receive the activation denial message, then it will give you a 1-800 number to call and you will have to enter in a series of codes - takes about 10 minutes and will activate fine.
