Default Utorrent config

Greetings all,

How successful is the throttle control in Utorrent my brother has recently discovered torrenting...and is sucking up all the bandwidth. I cant browse or even just download files from sites like fileplanet.com. I want to limit his downloading bandwidth so he wont cripple my Internet connection so i can still game online and download files.

I have a 10Mb connection I get around 8.7Mb so using the Utorrent scheduler can I stop this from happening?

thanks in advance

In uTorrent under Options>Preferences>Conneciton you will notice a small section there.

It is called Bandwidth limiting. There you can set the upload and download speed of the torrents. That way you can limit the speed they come down or go up at.

I hope this helps.

well I was thinking of doing that, but I have no idea how effective it is if I limit him to say 20 download and 5 upload I have a feeling it`d still cripple my internet.

it would still cripple your internet since torrenting requires a lot of upspeed to get good downspeed, only way around it is to remove utorrent and use newsgroups, or if you have a router limit his bandwith from there like 50mb/hr
