Using RDC

I enable remote connection for both PCs but when I go to connect it asks for a username and password; I have not set any for computer. Is there a default password, or how can I find out what they are or how can I reset them?

Did you try entering the username for the system and leave the password blank?

Yes. It did not work.

Make sure in the username field you're prepending the username with the computer's name (that you're remoting into). So it should be: computername\username

If that doesn't work... try setting a password on the account that's on the PC you're trying to connect to.

I added a password and it worked. I'm just curious. Does the client being controlled have to be logged out, or can I navigate remotely while the client is logged on?

It will automatically log them out!

LIke cb600 said, they will be auto-logged out.

If you want to let them remain logged in, then you'll want to use something like TeamViewer. You can set it up to be persistent and log in anytime through another TeamViewer client.

Just so you are aware RDC can only work when an account has a password - it will never work without one. But I guess you know this now
