I have 3 different users set up.

My question concerns the names etc.

So I have one user called abc, which I see at the logon section where you would choose which user you wanted to go under.

However, in other places like when you go into Computer and c:\users I don't see that name abc listed, but it appears as "main".

Any ideas on why this is ?

The gist is this, user name under C:\ isn't the same as at the logon screen.

If you re-named the user's profile name, it will change for the logon screen, but will not change in the folder hierarchy.

Right , so the logon (profile) name is cosmetic...

If you initially create a new user called new1, everything should match at that time correct ?

For example:

If when I create the user, I call the account 'Admin'. It will look like this under the directory:
C:\Users\Admin
and the logon name will show as 'Admin'

If I re-name that account to 'Carnage'
It will show 'Carnage' on the logon screen, but the directory would still be:
C:\Users\Admin

So yes, it's only cosmetic, really.

Gotcha,

on a side note, when setting up a home network, which one would be best to point to,
or would either one be recognized ?

Depends on what you set the share name to.

I would just point it to the directory, though. Not sure if pointing to the user would work or not I guess.
