Usb problem

I just bought a thumb drive for my computer. I plugged it in the first time and the computer recognized it. I take it out and then try to plug it in again and nothing happens. Then I try my card reader and the same thing. Nothing happens. The computer recognizes that it's there but it won't work. It says that it loaded the device driver for the hardware but cannot find the hardware device. I went into the registry and cleared the upper and lower filters then restarted and the same thing happened again. I even unchecked in the usb hub about not disabling device to save power.

blatantly obvious but have you rolled back drivers or tried to reinstall new drivers???

I haven't rolled back any drivers. I tried for the usb and it didn't work. I tried looking for updated ones and there weren't any. The only driver that I just updated/installed was my video driver.

I meant have you tried rolling back the usb drivers not if you had done it recently

There wasn't a driver to previously roll it back to

I guess that I'll just back up everything and reinstall. Doesn't really bother me all that much. I seem to do this all the time

I guess there's a driver for USB,try getting it...
Am not sure....
