Default USB Drives (set icon and default letter?)

Hi guys

how can one set an ICON and the default letter for removable drives (Flash drives and USB drives)

I tried the desktop.ini technique used for making icons for folders, but it doesnt seem to work drive letters...

I'd also like to make the default letter of my USB Flash Drive "x:" so that whenever i plug it in anywhere, i know it's going to be drive X

please advise

I believe the icon is handled by the .ico file internal to the drive. I seem to recall that Lifehacker.com had a feature on changing that. As for drive letter. That seems like it can be set in your autorun file but i don't know how. Typically I have to reset it on a machine by machine basis.

Changing the drive letters is easy, just right click on my computer -> select manage -> and choose disk management, right click on the drive and select change letter. <--make sure the letter has not yet been assigned.

As for the icons http://www.virtualplastic.net/html/i...html#removable

That's on a computer by computer basis, this guy want the USB to tell the computer what it's letter is when it is loaded.

As for the icon, As I said, life hacker has a tutorial:
