I have a Windows Server 2003 Enterprise edition and when I connect any USB external device it will not show up under "My Computer." It does does show up in the safely remove hardware but otherwise it is no were to be found. It is a Western Digital external hard drive. I also have another server running enterprise edition that will not read it, same thing. But both will read flash cards or thumb drives. I know the device works as well it will work on any other of our servers, but these two are on enterprise edition so I am think that there is possibly a setting with that. Does anyone have any ideas?

have you checked in computer management under the disk management section?
right click my computer, manage.
it might be in there but either not have a drive letter or have one that is currently assigned to another device. change the drive letter there if that is the case.
