If i upgrade from 2000 to XP will I lose my current files? (i.e. pics, documents etc......)

I do not recommend an upgrade. backup your files and do a clean install. xp gets complicated.

Upgrades are a risk.I recommend getting rid (cleaning) your whole system.Make sure you do Windows Update after you have installed XP because on XP some of your ports are vulnerable.
