Default unknown device in device manager?

Well. It says its on the PCI Bus and thats all the info I have. Each time I uninstall it, it comes back.

The only thing I have installed on the pci slots is pciex 6800gt and a sound card on pci slot

thanks

It looks like you need to install drivers.
Access its properties and install the drivers from windows update.

did you try taking out the sound card, rebooting and seeing if the unknown is still there?

this way you can try to pin point the device. if its no longer there then you know you need to download the latest drivers for the sound card.

there isn't a sufficient reason to remove any physical devices yet. i've always used Unknown Device ID with a great success rate.
