My Laptop will not complete the new install of Windows XP. I was running into some trouble during startups with my pc. I did a chkdsk and was able to get in initially and back up my data. But the next time I had the same pblm, I decided to do a complete format and reinstall from my XP CD. I formatted the entire disk and started the install. It finishes the copying of all the files and then when it restarts to do the setup, it gives me the error:

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM

I have tried to do the installation 4 times now and stops at the same error. I have tried it with partitioning the disk and installing it on a size of 10GB, but still get the same error.

I have also tried to follow the microsoft support site resolution for this error but could not complete it as I do not find the files under the repair directory.
I am unsure if this is a problem with my hard disk, the CD itself or something else.

Any help would be really appreciated.
