Unable to format my new computer

I got my new computer today, it has windows XP with it and it run fine

But the problem is that I'm not able to format my computer !! I get message in the blue screen saying that I'm not able to install windows because setup did not find any hard drive !

Please someone help

So XP works, and yet when you pop in the bootable windows cd and get to the format menu it gives you a blue screen?

Or what? When does it say it can't detect a drive?

When you boot your from windows XP, it will give you three choices right ?

The first choice is to setup windows and second is repair (or something like that)

When I choose the first one I get a message saying that I should make sure that my hard drive is turned on

It is not clear but if you Zoom in you might be able to read it

You need to download the SATA drivers for it and when it boots up hit f6 and install the sata drivers from a floppy drive. I had the same problem on the last batch of HP laptops we got in.

If the drive is SATA you might need to load the SATA drivers first.

Just put them on a USB stick or floppy and hit F6 when it prompts you like veedubfreak said...

Does SATA driver come with the motherboard CD ?

My Hard Drive is WD 500GB

From where should I download the driver ?

You need to download the SATA drivers for it and when it boots up hit f6 and install the sata drivers from a floppy drive

I don't have a floppy drive

It might be on the CD...I would just go to the mobo manufacturer's website and look for the sata drivers though.
