Trying to install Windows XP on a new machine

Hi
I have built myself a new computer
Giga-byte 81875 ULTRA MOBO
P4 2.8
WD 160 gigs hard-drive
...

now i am trying to install windows xp on it,
i put the windows xp cd in the cd rom, it goes through the boot sequence and comes up with the following message

please wait for IDE scan
Verifying DMI Pool Data
Boot from CD:
DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER
Please help me

sounds like it is trying to boot to the hard drive which of course has no data..Make sure you have the boot order to boot from the CDROM drive first. I usually do CDROM>FLOPPY>HARD DRIVE. Also are you sure that the XP disk is good? Is it a copy or a real disc? Have you used it on another PC? Test it on another computer and be sure it works correctly. You basically have to narrow things down little by little.
 
also since its a new system be sure that the CDROM drive is being recognized by the BIOS and all cables are attached the right way :)
