Tryin' to fix a friend's computer

Alright, my friend was trying to install a second hard drive, he is computer illiterate... Anywho, I took over for him, and for some reason I can't boot up to Windows XP anymore? It boots to a black screen, then nothing... Any ideas?

make sure the old hdd (the first one installed with windows xp) is first in the bios boot priority....should work after that

I took the second drive out, don't need it in there until I can get the first one figured out.

set the 1st to master and the second to slave. if that don't work set them both to cable select.
